CALL FOR PAPERS

The 2003 annual technical conference of Korean-American Scientists and Engineers Association (KSEA), called "the US-Korea Conference on Science, Technology, and Entrepreneurship-2003 (UKC-2003)", will be held in Pasadena, California, USA, during August 8-10, 2003. The Purpose of this Conference is to provide an opportunity for the interested group to meet the mind of the young and the old, from all over the US and Korea, and to meet the frontier researchers, and to learn the new trends of science and technology for revisit their own fields, specifically in Biological Science and Technology, Chemical Science and Engineering, Information and Communication Technology, and Space Science and Technology. The annual UKC in recent years had been co-organized by KSEA and the Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies (KOFST), and supported by Korea-US Science Cooperation Center (KUSCO) and many other major industries. As a part of the celebration of the Celebration of the 100th years of Korean Immigration to USA, experts on History of the Korean Immigration of Scientists and Engineers, Culture of the Korean-American Community, and Education will be invited this year, to redefine the new directions of the science and technology education. The technical program of UKC-2003 will be limited to those mentioned thrust areas, however, Forums on "Young Generation" and "Women Scientists and Engineers" will be opened, as well as Workshops on "Entrepreneurships", "Career Development" and "Job Fair" will be prepared. Further detailed announcements will be available through the KSEA Web site www.ksea.org and future KSEA Letters.



ABSTRACT SUBMITTAL:

Abstract (200-words) is required to submit to the respect session chairs by June 1, 2003. The committee will notify to the main author whether the paper was accepted or no by June 15, 2003.



MANUSCRIPT SUBMITTAL:

Submission of the manuscripts is required to get reimbursement for all speakers including poster presenters.
The manuscripts can be

1) Power Point files
2) Formal journal style MS words files
3) Picture files (bmp, pdf, Power Point, etc) of the posters
4) Any words files that describe your presentation

All materials have to be electronic files saved on a CD marked with your presentation ID and name (i.I., BEST-2.6 Gilding Hong). These materials should be submitted to the registration desk during registration (Aug. 7-9). All submitted papers and presentation materials will be published on a CD as the Conference Proceedings after the Conference.

The following criteria will be used in papers and presentations selection and solicitation for the Conference:

1. Contributing papers may be theoretical or experimental studies, or review-type, but must be of significant value, containing new knowledge or experience in some fields related to the listed Conference subjects. The papers must be technically correct and should be of interest to people working in the field of science and technology, industry, or government.

2. Papers of general nature in various science and technology fields that address state-of-the-art reviews, R&D trend studies, and discussions on emerging technologies are also welcomed.

3. The paper must have necessary clearance before submission. Prospective authors should provide information on any clearance problems when the paper is submitted.

4. The Program Committee strongly discourages any commercialism in the presentations. The presence of commercialism in the text of papers and/or presentations submitted for the Conference can result in the removal of the paper from the Conference Proceedings.

5. In accordance with U.S. Copyright Law, the KS will have the Copyrights for the final paper/presentation copies presented at the Conference and published in Conference Proceedings.



PUBLICATION OF THE CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS

All papers presented at the conference will be collected, reviewed, and published in the Conference Proceedings, most likely as a CD. It is planned to have the Conference Proceedings ready at the conference on August 8 to be distributed to all attendees, sponsors, supporting and affiliated organizations.
