| We are excited to announce the 'Call
for Papers' for the 2006 US-Korea Conference
(UKC). UKC 2006 will be held for the first time
in the greater New York City area on August 10-13,
2006. The local Chapters are committed to arranging
a comprehensive and engaging conference for all participants.
The UKC2005 held at the University of California, Irvine,
this past August was a great success in terms of its
record attendance, the spectrum and quality of technical
programs, and the total number of papers presented.
KSEA is dedicated to improve upon the success of UKC2005.
The following initiatives have been implemented in
order to enhance the UKC programs and to encourage greater
conference participation. UKC2006 initiatives include:
- New symposiums: Advanced Materials Technology
(AMT), Microelectronics Science & Technology (MST),
Food Science & Technology (FST), and Manufacturing
Technology (MT).
- A greater emphasis on seminars that review the current status
and future prospects of science and technology.
- Transforming the US-Korea Conference into an international
forum by inviting more US speakers and participants.
- Addressing other current issues of interest through new forums:
Education Forum, Entrepreneurship Forum (with venture fair),
Women's Forum, and Young Professional Forum.
- Implementing an online conference management system:
conference registration and abstract and paper submissions
will be handled by the conference website (www.ksea.org/ukc2006).
- Additionally, the US Air Force Workshops
(on Nanostructured Materials and Nanoelectronics)
will be incorporated into the UKC2006.
Generous sponsorship has already been committed to
UKC2006 from many industrial companies and research
organizations from US and Korea. The commitment from
these organizations signifies the KSEA US-Korea Conference
as an important venue to discuss science & technology
collaboration across the Pacific.
We invite you to participate in the UKC2006, to meet
your colleagues and friends, and to visit the great
