Global Energy (GE)
 |
| |
The objectives of the Global Energy Symposium are; to share the current status of the technology development; to promote possible cooperation between Korea and the USA; and to provide insights to the policy makers of the two countries, and other countries, in establishing future energy policies for the welfare of mankind.

The symposium will particularly focus on scientific and project engineering development of next generation technologies, the perspective of relevant markets in order to cope with energy demand growth, assurance of security of energy supply, environmental concerns and protective measures. The Symposium will also try to address evolution of the energy sector as well as general policy issues. Areas of particular interest include, but not limited to:
Conventional Energy I (Oil & Gas):
- Oil/gas related offshore engineering in Korean shipbuilding companies
- Advanced technologies in survey and estimate of oil/gas reservoir
- Projection of future energy consumptions
- Technology and engineering development in offshore oil/gas industry
- LNG: projection of future LNG demand, floating terminals, LNG carrier fabrication and LNG carrier analyses.
Conventional Energy II:
- Advanced power cycles:: Ultrasupercritical (USC), Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC) and oxy-fuel firing
- Environmental and health aspects: NOx, SOx, mercury emission, Global climate change, CO2 capture and sequestration
- Conservation of energy: waste heat recovery, renewable energy and new energy technologies.
- Development of the components constituting optimized thermal systems (experimental and/or theoretical studies).
- New energy sources via direct energy conversion such as fuel cells, AMTEC and thermoelectric technologies.
- Renewable energies such as wind, solar, geothermal, and biomass
Nuclear:
- Mid and long-term nuclear energy policy and concerns.
- Current status of nuclear power projects and radioactive waste management.
- Development of next generation reactors technology and other advanced technologies.
