Dear UKC 2014 Participants, Fellow KSEA Members and Colleagues:
Welcome to UKC 2014 in San Francisco.
I am glad you are joining us for another exciting US-Korea Conference on Science, Technology and Entrepreneurship (UKC). The UKC is jointly organized by the Korean-American Scientists and Engineers Association (KSEA) and the Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies (KOFST).
We are here to:
Kookjoon Ahn, Ph.D.
President-elect, KSEA Chair, UKC 2014
President, KOFST Co-Chair, UKC 2014
(1) Promote science and technology for the general well being of our society.
(2) Foster international cooperation in science and technology including that between the U.S. and Korea.
(3) Enable Korean-American Scientists and Engineers to fully develop their career potential.
This year's theme is 'Forward Together.' We move forward together in all science and engineering fields. We move forward together with all the scientists and engineers in US and Korea. We move forward together for our noble goals for the humanity.
There are three main programs: basic science program, emerging technology program, and industry technology program in 12 symposiums. We recognize the important role of basic science and place it in a separate program. We present emerging technologies including biotechnology and conversion technologies to share the leading edge of current science and technology. We also include all the science and engineering fields that support healthy economy.
The symposiums, forums, workshops, exhibits, and poster sessions are all designed to facilitate your interaction with the other conference participants. This year, more than 1,200 Scientists and Engineers are expected to register and we warmly invite your family and friends to join us and enjoy the beautiful San Francisco and its vicinity.
I would like to give my special thanks to the leadership of the Program Committee, Executive Committee, Local Arrangements Committee, and all the volunteers. Their hard work and dedication truly makes the conference successful.
I would also like to acknowledge all the Sponsors for their continuous support and encouragement. The conference would not be possible without them.
