Call For Papers (CFP)

The annual US-Korea Conference on Science, Technology, and Entrepreneurship (UKC) is jointly organized by the Korean-American Scientists and Engineers Association (KSEA) and the Korean Federation of Science and Technology Societies (KOFST). This conference draws over 1,000 scientists, engineers, government officials, industry executives, and policy-makers. This year’s conference will be held August 1 (Wed) – 4 (Sat), 2018 at the St. John University Conference Center in Queens, New York.  The UKC 2018 theme “Leading Discoveries in the Era of the 4th Industrial Revolution” focuses on three pillars – Digital Technologies/AI/Blockchain, Biomedicine, and Robotics/Autonomous Systems.

On behalf of the UKC 2018 Program Committee and the UKC 2018 sponsoring organizations, we invite you to submit an academic paper presenting significant research findings from basic science, applied science, engineering, technology and science policy or an industry paper presenting experiences in future technology trends, career trends in Korea and/or US, career experience, and entrepreneurship in areas including but not limited to the following areas: 1) Symposiums for academia and technical industry and 2) Forums for sponsors and career development.

Symposiums

We invite academia, research institutes, and technical industry to share their research progress or outcomes at the UKC 2018. One-page research or industry technical paper in UKC format is required.  All papers are required to be written and presented in English. The papers will be reviewed and selected by each symposium committee in consultation with the Conference Program Committee. All papers presented at the Conference will be collected and published in a Proceedings. All accepted papers require an oral presentation or a poster presentation with speed talk. Two types of symposium paper templates for academia and industry can be found here. All submissions in conjunction with the lodging should use the UKC 2018 EasyChair Conference Management System.

Sponsored Forums

UKC 2018 will provide an opportunity for sponsors to organize the sponsor-named forums, which can serve as platforms for leaders to exchange ideas on future cooperation and promote collaborations with the sponsor institutions. .  These topics include, but are not limited to, focus areas identified by the Ministry of Science ICT and Future Planning. We can help the sponsors to identify potential chairs and speakers of the forum.  Organizers, chair/co-chairs and speakers can be Korean-American and non-ethnic Korean US researchers and experts from government, academia and industry.  To meet the sponsor’s needs, UKC 2018 organizing committee will help in customizing a forum structure and identifying a forum chair that can work closely with the sponsor.

Young Generation and Professional Forums

The Professional Forum (PF) and Young Generation Forum (YGF) the US-Korea Conference (UKC) are two forums under the Career and Leadership Track called the “Young Generation and Professional Forums (YG/PF).”  Both will explore career and leadership development topics of interest to early to mid-career industry professionals, and graduate and undergraduate students.  The PF and YGF programs will span 3 days during UKC from Thursday through Saturday.  More information on each forum is provided below. YG/PF application submission in conjunction with the lodging support application should use the application from on the UKC website under “CFP/APPLY” then “Submission” then “Apply Here to YG/PF” menus.

Submission of Papers

All submissions in conjunction with the lodging should use the UKC 2018 EasyChair Conference Management System. Online submission will be available until May 31, 2018.
