Forum Summary

Incheon is at the heart of Korea and Northeast Asia. It is the core of one of the three largest trading blocs, with 1.5 billion people, and it is only an hour's drive from Seoul, which has 25 million domestic consumers nearby. Incheon is also connected to 147 Asian cities with populations of more than a million people with a three-hour flight.

Songdo is a well-planned city with a range of urban facilities such as housing, employment, and recreation. Songdo Global Bio Hub is a hub and network for biotech companies and individuals.

Satorius raised its investment in biopharmaceutical raw material production and research facilities from $100 million to $300 million. This is to produce disposable bags for cell culture and cell culture medium (nutrient-rich mixtures needed by cultured organisms), as well as pharmaceutical filters and Embrain (mixture separation membranes).
Securing research personnel can lead to investment from multinational firms by establishing a talent supply chain. Currently, the IFEZ contains the Korea Stanford Center and MarineUgent (a marine research facility affiliated with Ghent University).

With an emphasis on Bio Healthcare and Advanced Manufacturing, the discussion on Cross-border R&D Hub in Korea-US Partnership will undoubtedly result in the formation of startups and global enterprises investing in cutting-edge technology.
